ISO 14001:2004 - Environment Management System Lead auditor

Environmental management system (EMS) auditors represent an important professional group in the maintenance of environmental systems.

So they are required to have a high standard  of qualifications and competencies.  BPIC’s experienced trainers  ensure that this five-day course helps the delegate to become a professional in the conducting EMS audits and increases awareness of ongoing developments in this field.

Training duration : 5 days

The purpose of this training is to provide methods and techniques that will enable participants to conduct better audits.  This enables the Management  Board of an Organization to make more factually based decisions on the basis of the information obtained from these audits.

During training, delegates will be able to practice and develop their analytical skills. It is important for organizations implementing environmental management systems and preparing for  certification to have well trained staff with a knowledge of the approach to auditing, policies, legislation and the strategy employed by external auditors.

TRAI NING COURSE PROGRAMME INCLUDES :

Interactive sessions, workshops, and role plays based on real life cases. This ensures that the transferred skills and methods are the current best practice. Main topics include:

  • ISO 14001:2004 requirements from a lead auditor’s point of view.
  • How to identify and assess environmental aspects and impacts.
  • Discussion of environmental legislation from the lead auditor’s perspective.
  • Analysis of the processes with respect to environment and the environmental audit process.
  • How to assess operational control and its adequacy during the audit
  • Principles  confirming compliance –using the latest theories.
  • All topics are discussed on the basis of case studies in order to show EMS auditing best practices.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Previous participation in an "ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems Internal Auditor course" could help in understanding the audit process, but this is not necessary.

DELEGATE EVALUATION

  • Continuous delegate assessment of progress of theoretical and practical knowledge.
  • Written exam.

Participants who successfully complete the exercises and the exam will be issued a certificate of successful completion of  the "ISO 14001 : 2004 Lead Auditor environmental management system training” .
